About the company:
Rakit is an indie business based in Soham, Cambridgeshire, manufacturing and selling DIY synthesiser kits, tools and merch online. We work with many types of artwork for different purposes such as T-shirt designs, stickers, flyers, packaging, product photos, wrapping paper, artwork for the website, emails, advertising and marketing. No qualifications (or interest in Synthesizers!) are required for this position. This is an ideal opportunity for a part time art student or someone wanting to get into a digital art career.

About the premises:
Rakit HQ is a residential style premises. We provide a very calm and relaxed atmosphere which is a great alternative to a busy corporate environment. Whilst we may have students with us from Cambridge Regional College, they will have received Autism awareness training and every effort is made to ensure work days are spread out so that no more than three people are in the building at one time.
About the role:
Interns will work with the employer to choose a digital art project suited to their favourite art style. They will make a plan of action to complete the project from start to finish. They will have the support and guidance from the employer where needed to complete the project. Interns can complete multiple projects over the ten weeks. This is a creative, pressure free, person-led role so it is up to the intern whether they like to be lively or quiet. The position will not include group work, team meetings or speaking to anyone on the telephone.
- Participating in a variety of projects depending on the art style/interests of candidates.
- Gaining experience with different types of artwork such as art for web/print/screen printing etc. and determining when to use pixel or vector based applications.
- Matching designs with different methods of printing e.g. which T-shirt designs could be screen printed and which need to be printed using a direct-to-garment method.
- Making a product from start to finish. This could include making your own templates for product design.
- Learning how to work within design specifications (such as file sizes, bleed, cutlines etc) in order to set up artwork correctly.
- Learning how to digitalise your pencil sketches for those that need it. (Wacom Pro drawing tablet available for use)
- Making videos and taking product photos.
- Exploring different ways to make money with your artistic skills.
Skills and qualifications required for the role:
There are no qualifications required for the role. Previous experience with digital artwork is also not necessary for the position as training can be provided.
Further Training/Development:
There is an opportunity to upskill with many online training and certificated courses available, provided by Cambridge Regional College and paid for by the employer.

The interview process is an informal discussion which includes an opportunity for candidates to tour the premises and learn more about the business. Should you be invited for an interview, the employer will also send you details of a small sketch they would like you to prepare and bring to the interview.
