DIY a lazy e-drum trigger guide

Here is a quick guide to build a cheap and effective e-drum trigger you can use with your Rakit Drum Synth. (For when a finger just won’t do!)

You will need:

• A tuneable practice drum (I used a REMO practice pad)
• A piezo disc element/pickup
• 3.5mm mono jack
• 2 core wire (I used 3 core, just tied 2 together)
• Some tape
• Flat head screwdriver
• Determination!

Gather the raw materials

Disassemble the practise pad, take note of the order of assembly.

Strip some suitable wires (I used 3 core but 2 core will also work)

Solder one end of your stripped wire to the piezo disc,

Wire up your 3.5mm mono jack

Tape the piezo to the plastic deck

Reassemble and enjoy!
